The year 1976 was a monumental period of legal structure, marked by the presidency of Dr. Jesus D. De Jesus (who served his first term as PATS President, succeeding Dr. Carlos Santiago, Jr.).

The Incorporation of the PBTCVS (January 13, 1976): Under Dr. De Jesus’ watch, the Philippine Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (PBTCVS) was officially incorporated as an independent certifying entity. This completely separated the academic society from the strict legal process of testing and verifying specialized chest surgeons.
